The Tree

I wrote this when I needed uplifting.  I hope it lifts you up as well.

THE TREE

Like the tree in winter

Who sleeps in the bitter cold

I have shed my leaves

Scattering them in the wind

To die on the ground

With no regret.

I rest and have faith

That the sun will emerge

To awaken me with warmth,

And I will burst forth

My arms will reach for the sky

And grow in new light

The rings in my core

Display my age

Some are straight and narrow

Some are jagged and broken

But I still stand tall

And cherish each new season.

I have learned to bend

In unforgiving storms

Let go of the broken parts

And never mourn

That is why

The best of me still stands

Yours,

Sabina (Beanie) Boston
